FAQs
Rhizomatic mapping is for everyone – from the age of 7 and up.
It can replace conventional methods of information collection, analysis, and visualization, offering a more creative and connected way of thinking and learning.
I offer lectures and hands-on sessions for diverse audiences, including students, educators, researchers, designers, artists, and organizations. Each session is adapted in depth, pace, and content to match the age, background, and interests of the participants.
Rhizomatic mapping works in a fundamentally different way than mind mapping.
In mind maps, a central idea is placed in the middle, and information spreads outward in a hierarchical structure. The process mainly focuses on breaking down a single main topic.
In rhizomatic mapping, there is no center and no hierarchy. The entire map becomes a dynamic field of knowledge, where ideas, materials, references, questions, and intuitions connect freely across the surface.
This openness allows for richer connectivity, deeper insight, and greater creative potential – supporting both analysis and construction, and creating fertile conditions for innovation.
Yes. Rhizomatic mapping is used in academic research, design processes, artistic inquiry, and education. It supports complex thinking, sense-making, conceptual development, and experimental exploration across disciplines.
No prior experience is required. All workshops and lectures are designed to be accessible to beginners while remaining meaningful and inspiring for advanced practitioners and researchers.
It depends on your project and on how you like to work. Both options offer valuable advantages:
Digital mapping (using platforms such as Miro or Figma) makes it easy to integrate images, videos, and links, and to reorganize materials fluidly across the board. It is especially useful for visually rich projects and for processes that involve frequent restructuring.
Paper mapping offers an intuitive, embodied way of working. The entire map remains visible at once, connections can be drawn freely across the surface, and the map can easily travel with you. It works particularly well for conceptual exploration, fieldwork, and research that involves movement and reflection.
