About the event
A group session for "Departures" artists developing a major solo exhibition.
You're deep in the work — building a new body of pieces across materials and mediums — but the exhibition as a whole is still searching for its shape. What is it really about? What holds these works together, and what are they reaching toward?
In this session, we'll begin to answer that together. Using Rhizomatic Mapping, a non-linear research method for creative work, each of you will start laying out the full terrain of your project — the works, references, fragments, and questions already alive in your practice — and begin tracing the threads that connect them. Working in the room together, we surface blind spots, notice unexpected connections, and let the underlying theme of each exhibition start to emerge.
This is the first of two sessions. The second is one-on-one, where we'll take what surfaced here and develop it into the clear thematic core of your exhibition.
